Application of Six Sigma Methodology in an Automotive Manufacturing Company: A Case Study

Continuous improvement is the prime requirement for all industries to sustain and grow in competitive global market. This paper a case study of manufacturing industry Taiwan, facing problem rejection brushless motor product. The DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control) cycle was used improve processes reduce rate. In Define phase, anything related processes, products, suppliers, customers, customer needs good quality products were determined. SIPOC diagrams (Supplier, Input, Process, Output, Customer) Critical Quality (CTQ) identified. Measure phase focused on data collection by determining baseline process root causes process. DPMO Control Chart applied this phase. Analyze production failures that result defective Tools like Pareto Diagram, Fishbone FMEA Improve solutions overcoming priority problems determined using 5W + 1H tool. Several implemented, such as inspection methods, re-selection supplier, increasing number workers, providing training others. control Six Sigma values improved. January–May 2022, level increased from 5.11 5.44.
